What is Kimi AI?
Kimi is Moonshot AI’s consumer-facing AI assistant. According to Kimi’s current Help Center, it is available through kimi.com and official mobile apps, while developers use the Kimi Open Platform for APIs and integration tools.
The product is broader than a basic question-and-answer chatbot. Its current official documentation describes:
- conversational answers and writing assistance;
- automatic web search and source links when fresh information is needed;
- PDF, Word, spreadsheet, image, text and video input;
- document, spreadsheet, slide and website creation through agent tools;
- multiple Kimi models and thinking levels for different workloads; and
- a separate developer platform for API access.

Model pages that separate claims from evidence
Model names alone do not tell you what is available in Chat, Agent, Code or the API. Our model pages record the documented context window, input types, access route and pricing source, then place any independent tests in a distinct section.
Pricing without mixing products
Kimi membership and Kimi API usage answer different needs. Our pricing pages state the currency, billing unit, region, source and check date. Historic prices are not presented as current.
Developer references with reproducible examples
Developer pages use the current official endpoint and authentication documentation. Examples must declare their model, date, input, parameters and expected output shape. Secrets are never embedded in screenshots or sample code.
Independent tests with inspectable evidence
Our test records publish the date, product surface, input, scoring rule, observed result and limits. A blocked run remains a blocked run; it is never rewritten as a capability or quality finding.

A practical way to evaluate any Kimi answer
Before using an answer, run this five-point check:
- Identify the task. Is it creative, informational, numerical, technical or high stakes?
- Inspect the sources. Open cited links and confirm that they support the exact statement.
- Check dates. A relevant but outdated source may still produce a wrong current answer.
- Recalculate important numbers. Verify totals, units, currencies and assumptions outside the model.
- Escalate consequential decisions. Do not use an AI response as a substitute for qualified legal, medical, financial or other professional advice.
Kimi’s own Terms of Service warn that model output may be inaccurate and should be evaluated independently. That warning applies even when an answer is fluent or includes citations.
