Kimi Slides is Kimi’s presentation-generation workflow for turning a topic, pasted text or uploaded source material into an editable deck. The current product state is important: Kimi’s Help Center says Visual Mode has been discontinued, all new presentations use the K3 engine, and generation typically takes 30-60 minutes. Older search snippets that still describe a 5-10 minute Visual Mode do not match the current Help Center.
This guide separates those official product descriptions from our own evidence. On August 4, 2026 at 18:39:02 PT, KI AI Team uploaded a 7.49 KB Markdown fixture and submitted the exact generation prompt reproduced below. Kimi returned a high-demand message before generation began. No deck, online preview or downloadable PPTX was produced, so the presentation test remains NOT RUN and unscored.

Visual Mode is discontinued: use the current K3 workflow
Kimi’s current troubleshooting page is explicit: the Visual Mode previously powered by Nano Banana Pro has been discontinued, and all new presentations are generated with K3. Its current generation page gives a typical duration of 30-60 minutes and lists business, academic, tech and minimalist as examples of style presets.
That makes two older statements unsafe to repeat as current facts:
- that users can still choose between Adaptive and Visual modes; and
- that a current Visual Mode normally completes in 5-10 minutes.
Search-engine snippets can lag behind the live documentation. For a time-sensitive product guide, the directly opened current Help Center page should take precedence over an indexed excerpt that describes a retired interface.
The 30-60 minute figure is Kimi’s estimate, not a service-level guarantee. Actual access and completion can vary with the account, region, plan, queue state, source size and requested complexity. Our attempt did not run long enough to measure generation because it stopped at the high-demand gate.
What can you give Kimi Slides?
Kimi documents three starting patterns:
- describe a presentation in one sentence;
- paste source text; or
- upload a document.
The Help Center explicitly lists PDF, Word, PPTX, Excel, TXT and images among supported inputs. The wording is inclusive, so this is not an exhaustive compatibility table and does not prove that every file using one of those extensions will parse correctly.
Kimi also documents custom PPTX template upload. Its feature page says the product can follow a template’s slide master, fonts and grid system, and can use screenshots or design references when creating editable slides. Those are vendor claims until a downloaded file is inspected. A visually similar preview alone cannot establish master-layout fidelity or element-level editability.
A safer input checklist
Before uploading source material:
- remove personal data, credentials and material you are not authorized to disclose;
- make the audience, purpose and required slide count explicit;
- state whether Kimi may browse or must use only the supplied sources;
- label sources consistently and attach each source to the claims it supports;
- specify the required aspect ratio, typography minimums and visual constraints;
- define what must remain editable in the exported PPTX; and
- preserve a local copy and checksum of the exact source used.
These steps do not guarantee a correct deck. They make later verification possible.
Current access, editing and export routes
Kimi’s troubleshooting documentation lists three ways to enter the presentation workflow: the web interface, the Kimi app and General Agent Mode. Its overview describes online preview and manual editing after generation.
The official feature page lists PowerPoint, Google Slides and PNG exports and says a deck can be presented online. On the web, Kimi’s documented download sequence is Download -> Confirm. The troubleshooting page advises starting a new chat and regenerating when a downloaded presentation is 0 KB or corrupted, and warns that older office software may be incompatible.
An export should not be called successful merely because a download button appears. A usable PPTX should open without a repair warning, contain the expected number of slides, preserve text and structural objects as editable elements, retain citations, and render without clipped or missing content.
Our eight-slide Kimi Slides fixture
We created KS-SLIDES-8-V1, an original, English-language benchmark based only on current official Kimi pages. Its purpose is to test whether a generated deck preserves a defined product state, its supporting citations and its editing requirements. It is not a claim that Kimi already passed those checks.

The exact generation prompt
Create exactly eight 16:9 slides from the supplied source fixture. Use only the
fixture and its official Kimi links; do not browse or add facts. Preserve every
number, product state, limitation and source URL exactly. Use a neutral editorial
style with black, white and one cool-blue accent. Keep every slide title on one
line. Use at least 50 pt for the deck title, 35 pt for slide titles and 16 pt for
body text. Add a compact visible source marker to every substantive slide and keep
the full official URLs in speaker notes or another inspectable citation field.
Do not rasterize whole slides. All text, tables, shapes and simple diagrams must
remain independently editable in the downloaded PPTX. Do not claim that this

State Kimi’s claim that research-backed content can include traceable on-slide citations. Require a compact source marker on Slides 2-7 and the matching full official URL in an inspectable citation field. The 100-point scoring method
The score is defined before viewing an output. This reduces the temptation to reward a polished deck for properties that were never checked.

A result can be labeled Pass only at 85/100 or above with no hard failure. A produced file below that threshold is Partial. A request that never reaches a scoreable artifact is Blocked. No numerical score is assigned when the generation test did not run.
Hard failures include reversing the current Visual Mode state, introducing the stale 5-10 minute estimate as current, fabricating a source, returning a missing or corrupted file, producing the wrong slide count, flattening ordinary slide content, or leaving material clipped or outside the canvas.

The upload and submission establish only that this source reached the interface and that this one attempt encountered the displayed blocker. They do not show which layout K3 would have produced, how long a completed deck would have taken, whether citations would have been correct, or whether an exported file would have remained editable.
The raw-results record in the Kimi Slides test pack therefore remains unscored. Blank score fields are intentional; they must not be converted to zeros, because zero would imply that an artifact was evaluated and failed.
How to validate a generated Kimi deck
When a future attempt reaches completion:
- retain the raw conversation, preview screenshot, downloaded PPTX and timestamps;
- record the visible account, mode, route and any queue or model notice;
- verify all 20 weighted facts against the ground-truth file;
- open every source URL and confirm it supports the adjacent claim;
- render all eight slides and inspect clipping, overlap, margins and contrast;
- reopen the PPTX in a current compatible editor and select text, shapes, tables and diagrams separately;
- confirm the package is non-zero, contains exactly eight slides and opens without repair; and
- publish the raw score sheet and every deviation, including failed exports.
Do not quietly regenerate until a better-looking result appears. A retest should receive a new run ID and remain visible alongside the first attempt.
Limits of this guide
- Official feature descriptions are vendor claims unless marked as independently observed.
- One high-demand event does not establish a universal free-plan, regional or reliability rule.
- A successful Markdown upload does not prove that every listed file type will parse correctly.
- No generation-time measurement was possible; 30-60 minutes remains Kimi’s estimate.
- No PPTX was produced, so editability, citations, design, overflow and export integrity remain untested.
